Step journal
Every day, with where its number came from. Open a day to correct, withdraw or annotate it.
Opening your local journal…
A diary, not a dashboard
The journal lists every day in the period, including the ones with nothing logged. Each recorded day shows whether its number was reported by a device, typed as your own estimate, or estimated from motion, and whether it was corrected. Tags and notes let you remember the context: new shoes, a hilly route, a rainy week. StepTracker never draws health conclusions from them.
Data quality review
The review list points out possible typos (very large totals), sessions that would need an impossible pace, days where several sources overlap, and long stretches with no records. It only suggests; nothing is deleted or repaired without you.
Questions
What is the difference between a daily total and a session?
A daily total covers the whole day, like the number on your watch at bedtime. A session is one walk with a start and end time. If a day has both, the daily total is used and the session is not added on top, because the walk is already inside the day’s total.
What happens when I correct a number?
The new value becomes current and the old one stays in the revision history with your reason and the time. You can revert to the original at any point.
What does “withdraw” do?
It marks an entry as no longer valid without deleting it. If no other source covers that day, the day goes back to “not recorded”.
Why are some records “set aside”?
When two sources cover the same day or overlapping times, only the one ranked higher in your source list counts. The other is kept and shown with the reason, so you can change the ranking if you disagree.
