StepTracker: today's steps

Opening your local journal…

A step journal that respects gaps

Most step apps quietly assume every day was measured. StepTracker does not. Each daily number is stored with where it came from: a reading you copied from a device, your own estimate, an imported export file, or a session timed on this page. Changing a number adds a correction; the original stays in the history.

What you can do here

  • Log today or any past day in a couple of taps, with a source label and an optional note.
  • Import CSV or JSON exports, map the columns, and preview duplicates and overlaps before anything is saved.
  • See weekly and monthly trends with averages over recorded days only, plus the share of days covered.
  • Set a flexible goal schedule with rest days, and switch streaks off entirely if they are not for you.
  • Plan a walk from minutes, steps or distance using your own pace and step length.
  • Back up, restore, or delete a profile, its history, or stored import files separately.

Questions

Does StepTracker count my steps automatically all day?

No. A web page cannot count steps in the background or while your phone is locked. StepTracker is a journal: you type in the number your phone or watch shows, import a file it exported, or try the experimental counter while the page stays open.

Why does a day without an entry not show as zero?

Because you probably walked; you just did not record it. Treating gaps as zero would drag your averages down for the wrong reason. Gaps are drawn as dashed slots, and every average tells you how many days it covers.

What happens if my watch and my phone both report the same day?

Only one of them is used, chosen by your source ranking. Adding both would double count. The record that was left out stays visible in the journal with the reason.

Where is my data stored?

In this browser’s IndexedDB storage on this device. There is no account and no server copy. Export a backup from Data & privacy if you want a copy elsewhere.

Is this medical or fitness advice?

No. Goals are numbers you choose. StepTracker does not diagnose anything or tell you what your steps mean for your health.
